they found him guilty. believe victims, believe black women, practice what you fucking preach and don’t abandon your morals because you’re biased.
Please keep the island of Hawai‘i in your thoughts.
The volcano Mauna Loa has entered a yellow zone, meaning residents should be prepared for an eruption. Keep the residents of Hawai‘i in your thoughts and in your heart.
Many residents will not be able to flee, tickets are expensive, homes cannot be left. This situation is delicate and will bring much stress in the coming days. Tourists will flee, but many of my people will be stuck here, with no money or place to go, trapped in the middle of the ocean.
There is not much we can do now, however soon, soon there will be relief funds needed.
Just please keep your eye on my people, and do not forget us.
This post has only been up for mere hours, and already there are so many unbelievably self centered tags and comments on this post. Most of them have been blocked and completely disregarded, but I am so fed up with my posts about Hawaiian issues being made some stepping off point to talk about your vacation or out of touch experiences.
Mauna Loa will erupt. People will be displaced. My people. My people who live paycheck to paycheck. My people who cannot afford to move. People may die. The next few weeks will be spent in fear and uncertainty. My people who have been displaced will phone home, and spend every second worrying about their 'ohana. My people will live on this island and hold their breath until it’s over.
I don’t want to hear about how you visited Hawai‘i and it was so beautiful and that’s why you feel bad. I don’t want to hear about how this is a geological phenomenon and interesting. I don’t care about your vacations or your classes or how you look at my people as if we are a microscopic enigma to be observed. I don’t care. You won’t get brownie points from me, in fact. I hate you.
I don’t care if you ramble or write in my tags, I don’t care, but don’t make this eruption about you if you’re not local or Kānaka Maoli. This is about Kānaka Maoli. This is about local families. This is about locals and Kānaka Maoli. This post is about us. This is not about tourists or universities or proving a point anyone else. Have some compassion and stop making everything about you.
My peoples lives have been defined and ruled by the feelings of haoles and I’m sick of it.
Two Things:
1) I don’t know a place for advanced donations. The Hawai‘i Community Foundation may open up another volcano relief fund like they did in 2018, but they didn’t open that until after the eruption.
2) Someone lied in the notes of this and said it’s a blazed post. What the fuck is wrong with you people.
Think everyone memeing on the Shinzo Abe assassination attempt should remember that Japanese reactionaries are refusing to believe a “real Japanese” could’ve done it and are blaming Zainichi Koreans:

Like…. things could easily get uglier in Japan politically in the fallout of this, especially for ethnic minorities who have historically been used as scapegoats by Japanese nationalism. Assassinating one shithead politician or demagogue alone wouldn’t stop a far-right movement from further growing or radicalizing in any other country, after all.
I’m really glad that Ms. Ruby Freeman and Shaye Freeman Moss have a GoFundMe that is helping them get back on their feet. Far too often, you only see this kind of fundraising when it’s for cops who shot down yet another unarmed Black person. To be sure, this is not a “feel good” story, because it never should have happened to begin with. I hope they sue tf outta Trump, Giuliani, the Proud Boys, Trevian Kitti, Fox News and everyone else who harassed and threatened them.
happy disability pride month :) i'd like to give a quick shoutout 2:
- people who know they have something going on physically but don't know exactly what it is
- people who know they have something going on mentally but don't know exactly what it is
- people who feel like they're not disabled enough to "count"
- people who feel like they're "too disabled"
- people who just realized they're disabled
- people who are working through internalized ableism
you're cool, you're great, you belong, have a good month
Though the jokes that "since gay pride month is over, july is now gay wrath month" are funny and all, it's important to remember that July is ACTUALLY Disability Pride Month and ya'll should really be focused on boosting disabled voices and issues this month! For instance, the fact that marriage equality doesn't actually truly exist in the United States for disabled people, or the fact that disabled people are forced to live in poverty or lose their disability benefits, or the fact that 1 in 5 people with chronic pain end up sufferring from alcoholism or other addictions, or how accessibility is still a daily battle for all of us, or how there are active hate groups on places like reddit who try to "call out" those they see as "faking" their disabilities.
This July, boost disabled voices. Talk about the issues that our community faces. Call out ableism.
